Singapore – Day 3 – Sept 21
We got up and got cleaned up around 8 am. Ina’s left ankle was slightly bruised and swollen so put a tensor on it. Her right knee was tweeked as well when she fell yesterday, so was walking slowly and carefully. We went down to breakfast and then back to room to relax. Ina iced her ankle and we did our packing and then checked out by noon. We took our bags to the concierge and went for a short walk along Clarke Quay. We found a river cruise kiosk that offered 50% off if you showed your boarding pass. We showed our pass and got a 30 minute river cruise for $6.50. We went down the Singapore River to the bay that had the Merlion on it. We went around the bay and back up to Clarke Quay. It was hot and very humid, and Ina’s ankle and knee were tender, so we went back to the hotel and relaxed in the air conditioned lounge until time to leave. Chong arrived a bit early, at around 5:15 to take us to the airport. We checked in and went through to the gates. We were at gate 60 at the farthest end and when we got there we realized there was no food available in the area. It took forever to load, as the real security was actually inside the gate area, and their xray equipment was very sensitive. Once we were loaded, we found the flight very full and there were lots of noisy, crying kids. It was a 747. We had a meal at around 10 pm and they gave us a small packet containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, and soft slippers. We both slept as much as we could, but we had centre section seats that were very cramped compared to the 777. They woke us up about midnight for another light meal. We would have slept through it, but we had to put our seats upright for those in the seats behind us. We kind of dozed from then until we landed at 5:45 am local time in Australia.
